As part of the obligations to ensure that standards and technical regulations are developed in an open and transparent manner that is consistent with the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade and as part of the Trade and TBT Chapter of the U.S.-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement, JC&A assisted in developing training tools to improve the development of standards, technical regulations and conformity assessments to reduce the costs to businesses. Concretely, JC&A prepared an action plan to undertake regulatory impact assessment for the Peruvian National Bureau of Medicines, Supplies and Drugs (DIGEMID) as well as the National Bureau of Environmental Health (DIGESA) and present it on a Web conference. The work consisted of:
- Drafting two action plans of at least ten pages to be undertaken by each of the Ministry of Health task forces (DIGEMID and DIGESA) in charge of the RIA. Each action plan will describe and discuss the following elements:
- Description of the activities,
- Main responsibility to undertake the activity
- Time required to undertake the activity in week
- Description of the deliverables expected after each activity, and
- Notes concerning the methods and risks related to the activity
- Preparing a PowerPoint presentation and presenting the action plans during a Webconference for DIGEMID and DIGESA
